Job Description:
Shift Available: 2nd and 3rd shift only
The inserter operator's job is to set up and operate the insertion equipment.
Operators must be able to trouble-shoot the inserting equipment and provide proper adjustments to meet established hourly production standards and perform preventative maintenance procedures at required intervals.
Operators must be able to effectively use the quality control monitoring systems while processing mail pieces, along with monitoring quality of the final insertion at output.
Inserter operators must be able to sort and prepare mail according to the USPS regulations.
The inserter operator must properly record any damaged documents or mail pieces that will require reprinting to balance jobs using an automated reconciliation
sheet. All inserter operators must help maintain equipment by general cleaning, and maintain an organized, safe and clean work area.
Job Duties:
Pull up proper job configuration on inserters based on forms that will be inserting using the inserting software system.
Check for proper guide set-ups and proper sensor detections. Perform operator adjustments
Check final inserts for proper folding, sealing, address placement through envelope window
Follow directions and instructions provided by the Production Supervisor on all production releases.
Notify Production Supervisor or On-Site service technician of any mechanical service required or machine malfunctions.
Oversee proper sorting of inserted mail according to USPS Requirements.
Must notify the Production Supervisor of any quality issues
Properly record damaged documents or mail pieces and request reprints to the mailing control staff.
Maintain an organized, safe and clean work area.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience in a transactional mail production environment including proper recovery of list jams.
Operation and preventative maintenance of inserting equipment and strapping equipment.
Trouble shooting of insertion equipment in order to maintain and increase productivity.
Proper mail preparation according to USPS regulations.
Accurately insert diverted mail pieces, record all spoilage needed for reprints, generate automated software system divert reconciliation report to balance jobs.
Excellent oral communication skills.
Must be able to multi-task while maintaining attention to details
