Summary:
Junior Copywriter responsible for generating copy for a variety of marketing pieces (in print and on the web). Projects will include web and catalog product descriptions, direct mail pieces, promotional emails, brochures, order inserts, advertisements, press releases and other marketing pieces as necessary.
This individual will work closely with other members of the Creative team, as well as the Marketing and Merchandising teams, to develop concise, customer-focused and benefit-driven copy. As a member of the SmartPak team, it will be critical for the writer to develop a strong understanding of our customer base of active and engaged horse owners. A key component of the writers success will be in receiving constructive feedback and adapting to the unique tone of the SmartPak voice, as well as the unique nature of our industry (equine supplements, tack and supplies). This role will function as an important part of the Creative team and play a part in shaping the entire SmartPak brand.
Essential Job Functions:
Generate marketing copy, including web and catalog product descriptions, direct mail pieces, emails, brochures, order inserts, advertisements, press releases, etc
Learn and adhere to the brands unique tone of voice; infuse that personality into every piece
Work closely with the Marketing and Merchandising teams to understand key messages and order of priority, and then take those messages and turn them into customer-focused, benefit-driven copy
Complete work assignments from Creative Director and Assistant Brand Manager
Other Major Duties and
Responsibilities:
Work closely with designers to create integrated concepts in the catalog and online
Proofread catalog copy and prices
Maintain product copy
Adhere to and maintain copy documentation standards
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
1-3 years experience writing catalog, retail or other direct marketing copy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Great sense of humor, ability to acquire a light-hearted brand voice and reception to feedback
Good time- and project-management skills with the ability to self-manage and work as part of a team within a dynamic environment
Strong computer skills (proficient with Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite)
Horse experience preferred, but not required
