Job Vacancy Description : Montgomery College, Facilities Office, Germantown Campus, has need for a 2 full time B uilding Service Workers #S13221 & S13222 . Work schedule is 40 hours per week, Tuesday thru Saturday 6:30 a.m . to 3:00 p.m . Hours worked between 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. are eligible for a $1.03 cents/hour shift differential. Position is subject to occasional overtime and recall; and requires attendance during weather emergencies.
Job Summary : Position provides required housekeeping / cleaning maintenance in educational buildings, offices, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, and exterior areas adjacent to the building. Duties include but are not limited to:
o Collection and disposal of refuse and materials to be recycled
o Maintain floors (vacuum, dust, mop, strip, scrub, wax, burnish and seal)
o Clean equipment and polish fixtures
o Clean restrooms, replenish soap and paper goods
o Monitor assigned areas throughout the day to maintain cleanliness
o Special events preparation, set up and breakdown
o Identify and report items in need of repair
o Must be available during weather emergencies to remove snow and apply solutions to walks, steps, ramps, landings, parking lots, etc.
Required Qualifications
o High school diploma or GED, and/or any combination of education, training and experience providing understanding of the field and the ability to perform the duties of the job.
o One year of experience in building custodial cleaning
o Experience operating a variety of industrial cleaning and other types of equipment such as strippers, buffers, vacuums and shampooers
o Knowledge of the methods, procedures and techniques of building custodial work, tools, equipment and materials used,
o Knowledge in the safe use of industrial cleaning products
o Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing)
o Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
o Ability to work cooperatively with others
o Ability to routinely perform physically demanding tasks involving, prolonged standing, stooping, walking, and reaching
o Able to move and / or lift heavy and large items up to 50 lbs. without assistance
o Basic computer literacy Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), the Internet and Windows-based applications may be required
o Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
o Experience with Green Cleaning processes
o Experience working in an academic environment
o Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet
o Experience working and interacting with diverse populations
