NDDOT Pay Range: $3,679- $4,599/month(DOE)
This position qualifies for an oil-patch add-on payment of $484.20 per month.
External applicants are eligible for a recruitment bonus of 2 months salary.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires two years of work experience at the Transportation Technician II level; or a high school diploma or GED, three years of work experience with heavy equipment operation, highway maintenance, or construction-related work, and a class A driver's license with air brakes and a cargo tanker endorsement. Two years of college coursework in engineering, heavy equipment operation or maintenance may substitute for up to two years of the work experience requirement.
Employee hired must have a valid Class B driver's permit with air brakes with a cargo tanker endorsement the first day of work. The employee will then have 30 calendar days to take the behind-the-wheel exam and get the class B driver's license with air brakes and with a cargo-tank endorsement. The district will make the equipment available for the employee to practice driving during these 30 days. Prior to the completion of the probationary period, the employee must have possession of a Class A driver's license with air brakes and with a cargo-tanker endorsement.
Requires work after hours, on weekends, and holidays during road and weather emergencies; ability to lift or carry several items with a total weight of 75 pounds.
Employees will not be required to have residence within a specific travel time or distance from the workplace. As determined by the district engineer or division director, employees will at times be required to report to work within 30 minutes in situations involving emergency, storm, or public safety concerns. Employees with residence outside the 30 minute requirement must make appropriate arrangements to make themselves available during such conditions.

_This position is a safety-sensitive position. Summary of Work
1. Highway and Roadway Maintenance: Repairing and maintaining highways, bridges and right of ways and snow and ice control. This helps to preserve our investment and provide a safe roadway for the travelling public. Approximately 40 percent of time is spent on this duty.
2. Building and Grounds Maintenance: Clean and maintain our District buildings and grounds. This provides a safe working environment and protects the buildings against premature wear and tear. Approximately 5 percent of time is spent on this duty.
3. Information Technology Equipment Maintenance: Sensors and equipment must be adequately maintained to provide accurate data. Approximately 5 percent of time is spent on this duty
4. Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance: Check and repair wiring for shorts, replace electrical components, interact with shop mechanics, accurately troubleshoot a problem, plumb and replace brine tanks, fabricate and weld metal repair panels. Proper maintenance is critical in preventing breakdowns and increased user costs. Trucks and equipment must be inspected to make sure they are running properly and safely. Approximately 15 percent of time is spent on this duty.
5. Record Keeping: T echnicians must record their time, material usage, truck and equipment usage, accurately to make sure it is charged out correctly. Approximately 10 percent of time is spent on this duty.
6. Highway Construction Duties: Assist District Construction staff with inspecting highway construction projects. Collect weigh tickets, calculate asphalt yield, check temperatures of hot mix. Without addition inspectors, work items may be overlooked or not inspected properly. Approximately 20 percent of time is spent on this duty.
7. Supervisor Duties: Supervise the section staff when the lead supervisor is not available. Approximately 5 percent of time is spent on this duty.
