The Housekeeping Aid (Reusable Medical Equipment) position will be located at the Veteran Affairs (VA) New Jersey Heath Care System, East Orange, NJ. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Use special germicidal and/or cleansers;
Clean various types of surfaces (bed rails, bedside tables, patient furniture and floors) walls, and ceilings to clean and maintain such surfaces;
Clean and sanitize rolling stock, i.e., wheelchairs, IV poles, chart racks, feeder chairs, shower chairs, medicine cart, red crash cart, commode chairs, scales, suction machines and any other item on wheels used by or for patients;
Clean patient''s rooms using isolation techniques to protect oneself from contamination and to prevent cross-contamination of other hospital areas;
Operate powered equipment such as scrubbing machines, buffers, shampooer, vacuum etc.;
Perform routine maintenance on cleaning equipment such as filter replacement, brush replacement, charging batteries, tightening nuts and screws and/or lubrication;
Follow sanitation and infection control procedures to prevent the spread of bacteria; and
Carries out assignments with minimum of supervision.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6AM - 2:30PM
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C ( ). For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). PHYSICAL EFFORT: The position requires performance of work which involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; continually standing, bending, stooping and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying waste baskets; frequently pushing carts loaded with waste; and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. Also performs work which involves moderate to heavy physical effort, such as required to move heavy equipment and furniture, i.e., heavy industrial vacuum cleaners, heavy duty floor scrubbers and buffers, couches, beds, etc., and lifting, carrying and/or moving items weighing up to 40-50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Usually works indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Will be exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc., as well as subject to cuts and bruises. Continually exposed to dust, dirt and disagreeable odors, and is frequently exposed to organic material which may be contaminated and/or infectious and require special handling.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
