Summary:
Supervises designers producing systems sketches, 2D or 3D systems drawings, documenting specifications, estimating staffing requirements and work-hours estimates.
Responsibilities:
Execution of project work; coaches designers preparing systems sketches and drawings; collects document specifications based on appropriate engineering criteria and technical manuals. Work conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures. Ensures work fulfills client''s needs for staffing requirements, work-hours estimates and checking 3D models and 2D CAD drawings.
Qualifications/Competencies/
Experience:
In addition to levels 1, 2 and 3 shares experience with others to meet objectives in own area. Acts as a technical specialist within own area. Is a team leader; may or may not formally supervise others. Has developed depth and breadth of knowledge/skills in own area. Is able to work independently or with minimal supervision/guidance. Minimum of eight to ten years of experience in an engineering environment. Expert in Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail. Strong proofreading and editing. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
Acts as a facilitator to resolve conflicts within a team. Typically, has a college or technical school degree in design/drafting and 8 to 10 years of experience in an engineering environment.

Additional Details: Education: 1. College or technical school degree in design/drafting (2D/3D) and relevant experience. 2. A minimum of 10 years of experience with structural steel design, familiar with AISC codes and ability to understand shop drawings. Structural steel detailing experience is a plus. 3. A minimum of 10 years of experience with reinforced concrete design, familiar with ACI codes and ability to understand shop drawings. Rebar detailing experience is a plus. Experience requirements: 1. Creating sketches, drawings and documents that meet appropriate specifications and in compliance with company policy and procedures. 2. Experience with Frameworks, 3-D modeling, Microstation J, XM required. 3. Experience with Tekla Structures modeling a plus. 4. Execution of project work; prepares systems sketches and drawings; collects document specifications based on appropriate engineering criteria and technical manuals 5. Work conforms to applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures. 6. Support existing drawings and model revisions to incorporate change paper (FCN's and FCR's) and RFIs into as built models for record retention. 7. May provide technical oversight to more junior designersEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
