Position Description This position is based in West Chicago, IL.
Position description:
Hands-on accounting position needed for $15M business unit to manage financial reporting and cost analysis.
Ability to work independently in operations environment with job costing system.
Ensure financial reports and business forecasts are accurately prepared, submitted on time and in accordance to Corporate and Business Unit requirements, policy and metrics. Ensure compliance to all Company Policies regarding financial reporting and reserve requirements as well as GAAP regulations.
Document notes to assist in understanding the monthly results and any impact of any unusual trends or non-operational entries. Notes should address variances between actual, budget, forecast and prior year. Monthly notes will then be used in the Quarterly Analytics process.
Analyze and review the financial reports monthly with the Site Operation Manager. Discuss plans to improve the site performance to meet or exceed corporate and business unit financial goals and objectives. Any site which is forecasting a full year deficiency from the annual business plan will need to document a plan to at least minimize the deficit or preferably return to plan levels.
Actively participate in the preparation of the annual business plan. This would include but not be limited to income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, business metrics and capital spending. Year over year improvement must be obtained.
Compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act, and an understanding of the control requirements. This would include maintenance of the SOX Finance binders as well as a review of the site Operational binder. The site needs to be prepared to pass annual SOX evaluations with no major exceptions.
Prepare and post journal vouchers to ensure proper GAAP accounting. Use of the Service Standard JV workbook is mandatory along with standardized backup presentations with full disclosure.
Reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts to the sub-system or supporting documents. Use of the Service Standard Account Reconciliation workbook is mandatory along with standardized backup presentations with full disclosure.
Attend and provide input at your local accountability meetings. Knowledge of site operational workload, performance and potential changes ensure better financial forecasting and reporting. Input should include spending trends, hours analysis, job cost profitability, OTD Metrics, etc.
Actively manage and participate in the collection of past due receivables to meet or exceed cash flow and DSO goals. This would include weekly collection calls and active participation in the monthly credit department teleconference.
Coordinate the activity of the annual physical inventory and fixed asset verification process. This includes going to the sites and walking through the warehouse for physical verification and spot checking. Adherence to the Service Specific physical inventory procedure.
Job cost analysis and review. This would include pro-actively reviewing and reporting on job cost profitability included in the current month forecast, along with a high and low service order margin analysis.
Initiate training at site to ensure understanding and compliance with Flowserve policies. This includes knowledge of and adherence to the Service QMS system. The training should be documented in order to satisfy yearly PMP and SOX objectives.
Ensure proper revenue recognition per Corporate Policy and GAAP. This would include satisfactory completion of the online Revenue Recognition Training for you and all required site personnel, contract review policy, job closing checklist and file structure process.
Special projects as required.
Ability to interface both verbally and written with various levels of personnel including direct labor employees, middle management, sales and upper management.
Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced Excel. This would include record macros, v-lookups, pivot tables, graphs, etc.
Knowledge of Oracle, BaaN and Hyperion would be helpful.

years of related accounting experience is required
At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing/service environment is required
Experience with revenue recognition is required
Must have 3 - 5 years of full P&L and ledger experience.
Must have 2 3 years of working knowledge/experience with Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX)
Must have working knowledge/experience with GAAP regulations.
Knowledge of Oracle, BaaN and Hyperion would be helpful.
Strong computer skills with intermediate to advanced Excel. This would include record macros, v-lookups, pivot tables, graphs, etc.
Must have 2 3 years in a lead role
Strong verbal and writing communication skills
Must be a self-starter and adaptable.
Travel Requirements
Site visits at least once per quarter. May require more visits if the need arises as well as Business Unit or Corporate events. Estimated 10-15%
