CANBERRA is seeking a Director, Military Program Liaison for our Oak Ridge, TN location.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Manage communication and cooperation between key global military customers and all CANBERRA parties by serving as an official interface to key or top ranking officials of each organization.
Defining and executing the global business strategy in alignment with CANBERRA''s goals and for business development in the segment - working with the regional organizations.
Gathering and defining business requirements for military strategic programs, and properly and fully briefing and communicating those requirements back to CANBERRA for translation, decision, and implementation into solutions and actions.
Maintain understanding and awareness of global military and security business: market sizing, competitive positioning, new customer identification, customer needs assessment, product gap identification, product evolution envisioning, understanding customer budgets and procurement process.
Work closely with R&D, Product Management, Sales, and Operations to manage business and determine impacts from strategic information.
Ensure global interface with all regional Sales and Service VP''s - understanding customer needs and providing solutions.
Seek new business and build new customer relationships.
Develop and take responsibility for global orders forecast.
Serves as Key Account Manager (KAM) for worldwide military customers (UK MOD, US Armed forces, DTRA, JPEO, etc.).
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
BS degree in a technical, engineering or business related discipline, plus a minimum of 10 years related work experience. And advanced degree (MS or MBA) may substitute for 1-2 years of related work experience.
Previous Military background and/or experience.
In depth knowledge of practices and technologies related to the military.
Professional image and strong presentation skills; ability to speak with confidence and authority to customers.
Good knowledge of technical products and services as well as general knowledge of competitor products.
Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of corporate and customer staff and management.
Willingness to travel as required (up to 50%).
Understanding of P&L''s, financials.
Strategic planning/business development knowledge.

Strong background in government and commercial contracts.
Previous experience in creating and executing business strategies.
Advanced knowledge of business requirements for military strategic programs.
Good understanding of the global military and security business.
Previous experience working with international customers.
