The Cyber Security INFO Systems Technical Engineer supports a United States Agency Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) organization protecting the network security of its users.

Duty Analyst responsibilities include:
- Perform daily Intrusion Detection Sensor (IDS) monitoring to ensure that all sensors are active.
- Review the Security Information Management (SIM) tool interface, as the tool correlates and aggregates alert data from multiple IDS sensor types and additional security devices.
- Review alerts and packet-level data collected from sensors on a daily basis and report findings to the government Watch Officer (WO).
- Provide incident response functions when appropriate and coordinate activities with field site personnel when directed by the government WO.
- Support the government WO in publishing incidents, alerts, advisories and bulletins as required.
- Assist the government WO with telephone calls when the WO is away from the Operations Center or handing a caller on another line.
- Conduct research pertaining to the latest viruses, worms, etc. and the latest technological advances in combating unauthorized access to information.
- Submit an End-of-shift Report summarizing activities for each shift
- Perform other Network Security/Information Assurance tasks as assigned.
- Shift work is required.


Qualifications
Required Education and Training:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- Minimum ten years of relevant professional experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor's degree.
- Certification or the ability to become certified within 6 months of hiring for GCIA (Certified Intrusion Analyst) and CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) is desired.

Required
Experience:
- In addition to required education or equivalent experience;
- Minimum four years IT experience.
- Must have two years experience in network security analysis, using intrusion detection systems.
- Must have experience conducting analysis at the packet level.
- An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Preferred
Experience:
- Experience administering UNIX-based systems
- Experience with Snort, eTrust and Cisco intrusion detection sensors.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (Nessus, FoundScan, etc.)
- Firewall administration experience (Checkpoint NG, etc.)
- CISSP and/or SANS/GIAC Certification

Qualities/Additional info:

Duty Analysts should be proven team players with excellent oral and written communications skills.

Frequent interaction with government client is required.

Little to no travel is required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
