Ethicon Surgical Care, part of the Global Surgery Group (GSG) and a member of Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, is recruiting for a 1-year Post-Doctoral Fellow, Bioengineer position (with potential renewal for a second year), located in Somerville, NJ
The Global Surgery Group (Ethicon Surgical Care, Biosurgery, Energy, Cardiovascular Care, Mentor, Acclarent, and Sterilmed) business offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies-including sutures, surgical staplers, clip appliers, trocars and synthetic mesh devices-that are used in a wide variety of minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, cancer and obesity. The Ethicon Surgical Care business combines products and services of two market leading legacy companies, both with long histories of medical innovation. Ethicon, Inc. based in Somerville, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and electiveness of open surgery. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the design and development of physical systems to test the performance of medical devices in a simulated physiological environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities include:
Design and develop experimental systems and test methods for the evaluation of new and existing medical devices. Develop tissue and synthetic models for bench-top and in-vivo experiments. Execute studies for the assessment of prototypes and final design products. Analyze and interpret data to formulate conclusions.
The responsibilities of the job may also include:
Activities related to new product development, product line extensions, or existing product improvements. Medical device performance characterization. Characterization of biological tissues. Collaboration with internal and external partners in modeling physiological systems. Enhance the capabilities of the laboratory with respect to experimental techniques. Author/present manuscripts, posters, or other professional publications as appropriate. This candidate may contribute to Ethicon's intellectual property as appropriate.
Qualifications
A BS in electrical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering, and a PhD in biomedical engineering is required. A broad knowledge of materials science and physiology is preferred. Experience applying scientific and engineering principles and best practices to concept research of new and existing products is preferred. Experience conducting applied research for product development from an integrated physiological perspective is required. Experience with materials/mechanical testing equipment is required. Experience designing and/or developing innovative synthetic, ex vivo, in vivo test methods and mathematical models to support medical device development and/or medical research is required. Experience conducting studies, and analyzing and interpreting the data generated from the testing performed, is also a requirement. Tissue or bench-type model experience is strongly preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment that embraces ownership for innovation, change, risk, and flexibility. Intellectual curiosity, passion and enthusiasm for innovation. Good problem solving skills. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. The successful candidate will have the ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships and have good people skills.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
