The Fleet Maintenance Manager will supervise the branch maintenance program in an efficient, safe manner. Supervise and coordinate the activities of the employees engaged in servicing and repairing equipment and vehicles while providing hands-on maintenance to assist the shop employees with the completion of their daily tasks.

Essential Functions:
o Directly supervise all employees in the maintenance department through planning and directing work of all shop personnel.
o Make repairs to vehicles and equipment as needed and follow-up on all repairs made by the maintenance staff.
o Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program to ensure equipment is in safe and operable condition by planning and scheduling all preventative maintenance work, scheduling repairs and following up on equipment condition once repairs are completed.
o Maintain all vehicle inspection, maintenance and safety records required by federal, state or local agencies and Company policies.
o Ensure that all work and the shop facility is compliant to Waste Industries and OSHA safety standards
o Ensure that Safety Lane is operating and running in an efficient manner
o Confer with Operations Supervisor/Management to arrange for equipment to be released from service for inspections, service and repair.
o Schedule and conduct safety meetings and document attendees and topics covered. Ensure employees follow safety guidelines and perform duties in a safe manner.

o Maintain cost-effective inventory of all supplies and parts and authorize and arrange for purchase of supplies, tools, parts, etc., up to $750.00; over that requires authorization of Branch Manager.
o Oversee the maintenance and appearance of the shop facility and grounds.
o Track fuel use, order fuel as needed and compile information for monthly fuel report summary on all trucks and service pick-ups and give to Branch Manager on first day of every month.
o Track expenses across all product lines.
o Review work orders and VCR's daily.
o Run queries for inventory/part cost and enter adjustments
o Send Area Controller all required reports on a monthly basis.
o Ensure cleaning and maintenance of service and pick-up trucks and cleanliness of shop facility and grounds.
Additional
Responsibilities:
o Recruit, interview, hire and train all shop personnel.
o Evaluate shop personnel and discipline when necessary.
o Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
o Conform in all respects with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from supervisors.
o Coordinate safety meetings as required.
Machines, Tools and Equipment:
o Full set of hand tools required.
o Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections.
Education, Training, Experience and Licensing/Certification Requirements:
o High School Diploma or GED required
o Completion of DOT certification for air brake inspection and adjustment and certification for Annual Vehicle Inspections.
o Possess Class B Certified Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire
o Prior supervisory experience in a shop or maintenance setting desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, TMW, I-Pak and JDEdwards.
o Working knowledge of the G/L codes for assigning parts and labor.
o Possess ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals, read routine reports and correspondences and speak effectively and communicate well with others.
o Ability to calculate mathematical problems such as discounts, proportions and percentages, etc.
o Possess ability to reason and to problem-solve.
o Knowledge of the budgetary process.
Physical/Mental Demands:
o Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands aand fingers, reach, stoop kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
o Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
o Possess ability to regularly move up to 25 pounds, frequently move/lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally/lift move up to 100 pounds manually.
