Current Need
This position functions as a key member of the McKesson Technology Solutions (MTS) accounting team, and will serve as an influential leader within the MTS Technical Accounting Center of Excellence (COE) leading the technical accounting support for a significant business unit. This individual is responsible for (i) advising Sales, Legal and the Business regarding the structuring of technology customer arrangements during the contract negotiation process, (ii) communicating complex accounting/finance topics to stakeholders effectively; (iii) training relevant stakeholders on accounting policies and processes; (iv) developing partnerships with the Business Unit, Finance, Legal and Sales to drive value-add measurable results and processes; and (v) researching accounting issues, successfully concluding and communicating the impact to relevant stakeholders.
Position Description
Contract Consultation
This position is expected to provide timely, relevant and accurate accounting guidance regarding the structuring of technology contractual arrangements.
Be proficient in US GAAP, internal policies, and other applicable accounting standards related to technology arrangements (e.g., software, services, hardware, SAAS, outsourcing, remote hosting, etc.) and understand how these standards are applied in complex business arrangements.
Understand the desired business and financial objectives related to each contractual arrangement and advise Legal, Sales, Business Units and Financial Management on how to structure the arrangement to achieve such desired objectives.
Develop reporting for Business Unit contractual arrangements and incorporate all relevant metrics and drivers that are meaningful to the targeted users.
Communicate analytical results verbally, in writing and in presentation to stakeholders.
Ensure the accounting treatment for all Business Unit arrangements executed within a period are concluded on correctly and communicated to the appropriate internal groups within the appropriate close timeline.
Manage and participate in process improvement initiatives related to the contract consultation processes.
Communication and Training
This position is expected to have proficient communication skills and will be required to provide continual training to key stakeholders within the Business Unit, Finance, Legal and Sales regarding product communications, existing accounting standards, the adoption of new accounting standards, policies, procedures, processes, etc.
Identify and communicate the business impact of product communications and contractual arrangements.
Prepare and effectively deliver concise and meaningful presentations, memos and email communications.
Have the ability to translate difficult accounting concepts to non-accountants in a manner that can be clearly understood.
Attain Measurable Results Through Partnerships
This position will require creating effective working relationships with the Business Unit, Finance, Legal and Sales teams.
Proactively engage with stakeholders to understand their internal processes and requirements.
Obtain an understanding of the business and financial needs of the Business Unit.
Will be required to think outside the box to solve accounting and other financial issues.
Proactively assist the stakeholders by proposing, gaining acceptance and implementing thoughts, concepts, methodologies, processes, financial evaluation tools and other value-add deliverables.
Will be required to quantitatively and/or qualitatively measure implemented results.
Special Projects
This position is expected to possess the skills and initiative to carry out special projects of varying nature and complexity with limited to moderate supervision by clarifying objectives and assumptions or making appropriate judgments where necessary.
Organization
This position is expected to organize, develop and manage a function within Technical Accounting to provide effective and efficient accounting support to the business units and the division.
Minimum Requirements
6
years accounting experience including 4
years managerial experience
Critical Skills
Technology accounting experience required (e.g., experience with software and related technology literature)
Financial Statements - Demonstrated ability to analyze income, balance sheet and cash flow statements to an advanced degree.
Modeling - Demonstrated ability to accurately model the financial aspects and outcomes of business issues and new accounting standards using spreadsheet or other tools to an advanced degree.
Communication - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to various audiences, particularly executive audiences.

Big 4 experience preferred

BS in Accounting, Finance or Business
Certifications/Licensure
CPA required
