JOB SUMMARY
Assists the Department Supervisors by being available to work closely with staff, answer questions, provide some direction and monitor work volumes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors staffing for the supervisors and adjusts break and lunch times as needed to maintain adequate staffing levels for the work group.
In depth knowledge of all applications used by Patient Accounts partners such as: McKesson Star and Plus, Claims Administrator, Real Time Eligibility, MHS Network, Microsoft Outlook, THIN, etc.
Ensures consistency, uniformity and understanding in the application of policies and procedures for their work group. Brings exceptions to the attention of the supervisor.
Works with partners to ensure the system is being used effectively and brings system problems to the attention of their supervisor or an application analyst.
Works with partners to ensure processes are followed within each work group.
Works with the supervisor to develop and maintain individual and work group statistics that measure quality and productivity. Keeps supervisor informed of any backlogs in work assignments.
Compiles production statistics for daily, weekly, and quarterly reports.
Resolves complex group problems by researching issues and obtains data necessary for the supervisor and work group to make decisions regarding the daily flow of work assignments.
Provides daily support to work group partners by being available to answer questions and give direction on workload.
Provide assistance to the director as needed to resolve any department issues needing immediate attention.
On occasion, with the coordination of a supervisor, adjusts workload
Under the supervisors direction, coordinates training of new partners with the department training coordinator.
Maintains reference materials specific to each work group.
Together with other work group Leads, works as a team to assist the department in meeting their goals.
Special projects as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
One year of experience in MHS Patient Accounting Department
Previous experience in third party payer billing and follow-up experience

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of HBO - Star and Plus Patient Accounting software; Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word Processing software.
