Job Description:
This technician will participate in installations of Positive Train Control (PTC) systems on customer locomotives. The employee will be a member of the Wabtec crew on site, and carry out the following primary duties:
(1) Installation of PTC systems on passenger railroad locomotives. This includes installation of electronic components, running wires and cables through locomotive cabs and spaces, pneumatic valve, hose and pipe installation, wire/cable management and terminations.
(2) Troubleshooting. Technician must have the ability to properly operate electrical test and measurement equipment. The installation involves testing and, if necessary, troubleshooting, diagnosing and solving problems with the on-board PTC equipment installed in the field.
(3) Additional or collateral duties, as required, such as materials management, communications with Wabtec and customer resources regarding installation issues and progress, etc., as directed by Wabtec management or supervisory personnel.
(4) The job involves climbing on and off locomotives on a regular basis, crawling into hard to reach spaces, such as under the floor board of the locomotive, and potentially working on locomotive roofs. The work site is outdoors and unconditioned.
(5) Position is based on, but not limited to, a standard 40 hour week. On occasion may be called out for work during off hours, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
(6) Occasional domestic travel for training, or potentially to assist with other Field Service initiatives, such as field modifications, repairs and installations for Wabtec customers.
Experience/skills:
(1) Previous locomotive and/or railroad experience highly preferred, though not required
(2) Previous knowledge and experience with pneumatic systems, electronics installation and testing, software installation, configuration and testing, and mechanical systems
(3) Ability to read, interpret and explain technical documents such as engineering drawings/specifications, test procedures, and electrical schematics required
(4) Welding certification highly desirable, though not a requirement
(5) Good verbal and written communications skills
(6) Team oriented worker with good interpersonal skills
Education/
Experience:
(1) Knowledge of electrical and mechanical installation techniques and principles.
(2) Accredited training in electronics and/or software systems, or equivalent experience preferred. Relevant training received through previous employers will be considered.
(3) Field service/field engineering experience a plusEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
