Job Summary
The Installation Team Lead supervises and directs team to deploy, install, and maintain a global information management system which provides reliable, efficient, and greatest-value services to the organization's customers. Coordinates and prepares Deployment Team capacity planning utilization and site-specific requirements to support the master schedule.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Oversee installation of servers, networking, and storage devices related to equipment life cycle management at multiple locations
Oversee and coordinate remote installation services and support
Support and monitor the remote installation of IT assets, systems, and service
Track program execution using proven project management techniques
Evaluate, monitor, and review existing information systems, policies, procedures, and services; initiate systems and productivity improvements
Ensure proper installation of server system applications including the administration of VMware to create, modify and implement virtual servers, as well as balancing virtual server utilization, and managing capacity and performance
Repeat system migration success including data backup and restore processes, as well as the scheduling of back-ups and the validity of each back-up. Manage the restore processes for both systems and users
Encourage and mentor team by providing hands-on leadership
Management of travel teams on customer site to install servers, switches, routers, storage, and technical services
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
Subject Matter Expert, ability to take ownership and drive the team to installation completion and issue resolution
Act as a high-level SME in all server system services and storage matters
Understanding of current industry protocols, standards/best practices and technologies for infrastructure management
Thorough knowledge of Windows server operating system, active directory services
Knowledge of virtualization of servers (i.e., VMware), terminal servers (i.e., Citrix), and blade server technology
Hands-on experience with networking in cross-platform system environments, as well as business continuity and redundancy designs
In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN networking and security concepts
Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment
Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in an information management related field required. Professional Project Management certification preferred
Seven (7) years' experience in IT/management
Professional certifications in technology-related areas preferred
Top Secret Security Clearance required
Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Generally works in normal office environment, but may be required to travel domestically and internationally on short notice, to austere environments, under harsh living conditions
