Summary:
Provide technical expertise with the design, engineering and integration of Cummins products into our customers equipment. Utilize Cummins proven tools, techniques and processes to ensure the successful installation of Cummins power into the customers equipment design.
Responsibilities:
Work with customer engineers to ensure the engine is installed correctly in the machine, including mechanical, cooling, electrical, and electronics
Answer customers questions and concerns regarding the engine, and/or discuss the questions with engineers at Cummins, Inc.
Optimize engine features and performance to suit customers needs. Recommend and adjust engine calibrations to optimize customer equipment performance.
Perform installation reviews of new engine installations, to ensure they meet Cummins requirements and guidelines.
Travel to customer locations for meetings, troubleshooting, and installation reviews.
Respond to complex application issues for customers. Identify problems and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
Support development of new Cummins Power Products, Power Units by incorporating customer driven, specific features.
Maximize the established Installation Quality Assurance Process
Engine selection process correct engine for application o Prototype engine process working closely with OEM
Design review eliminate redundant work / meet guidelines o Installation review formal review and testing
Review summary report documentation of achievement
Engine shipment requirements planning and forecasting
Production audits changes in product / process
Troubleshoot installation concerns and address engine fault codes.
Maintain a high level of accountability for quality and quantity of work performed.
Be able to operate in a self-directed, matrix management style environment.
Education/
Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering desired.
As an alternate to BSME / BSEE - Associates degree plus related experience
Expertise in 15L and larger diesel engine operation and applications.
High mechanical aptitude and ability to apply sound design principles.
Knowledge and work experience with gas and/or diesel engines.
History of solid engineering innovation performance.
Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, electric and pneumatic systems.
Expertise with engine calibration parameters.
Expertise with engine testing procedures, data collection and data analysis.
Familiarity with CAD systems.
Skills and Abilities:
Superior interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in windows based Microsoft Office programs.
Background in mechanical engineering, combustion, mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical and electronics, and data acquisition
Ability to learn new information and share knowledge with others
Knowledge of practical applications of engineering science and technology.
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of heat and friction management.
Ability to operate independently, yet focus on team goals and objectives.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
