Under direct supervision, responsibilities are to learn the job role for the Directional Drilling service line and the processes, tools and equipment used in Directional Drilling to develop the proficiencies required to include, but are not limited to: maintaining equipment inventory and supervising movement to and from well site, checking equipment and advising on repair requirements, and maintaining drilling computer database for on-going jobs, preparing job ticket, daily drilling and end-of-well reports. Provides on-site supervision of the Directional Drilling process including projection of well path to pre- determined target coordinates. Serves as the second hand in a subordinate role on select jobs. Provides technical and operational expertise to external customer in a professional manner. Performs assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering and directional drilling principles. Advises customer of directional options and good drilling practices. Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Geology or other technical discipline preferred, or equivalent driller/tool pusher or higher experience. Requires a minimum of 3 years Survey or Measurement While Drilling (MWD) experience OR 3-5 years Drilling experience including two years as tool pusher position or higher. Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements. Requires ability to read and interpret designed well plans and to interpret directional survey information and other well-site data. Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to standards required. Must possess good communication skills, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills. Proven competency in computer software. Must possess relevant offshore certificates as required. This is a field position. This is the entry-level position for the Directional Drilling (DD) job family. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines. Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.
Candidate must be able to work an unstructured work
schedule on offshore locations and be available for 24 callouts. A DV05 level Directional Driller typically provides on-site supervision of the Directional Drilling process including projection of the well path to predetermined target coordinates. Serves as the third DD while on-the-job training and second DD in a subordinate role on select jobs. Provides technical and operational expertise to external customers in a professional manner. Advises customer of directional options and good drilling practices. Requires ability to read and interpret well plans and to interpret directional survey information.
The ideal candidate will possess a College Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics or other technical dicipline along with previous rig drilling experience.
Extensive rig drilling experience in at least a Driller''s position on land and/or offshore locations or a minimum of 5 years will be considered in place of a STEM degree.
