We are currently seeking a Hardware Design Engineer based in our Livermore, CA site to develop and provide sustaining support for Utility Scale PV Inverters. This position will primarily be responsible for specification, design, implementation and support of utility scale PV inverters and their implementation into PV plants.
Job Description:
Responsible for supporting existing products: field test, failure analysis, design upgrades
Responsible for failure analysis of product components, and identify root causes of failures
Participates in specification, design, analysis and development of engineering projects.
Proves design concepts through a combination of computer simulation and physical laboratory implementation/testing.
Conducts FMEA analyses to evaluate reliability and ensure there are no product safety/liability concerns.
Develops engineering models and test plans to verify electrical, environmental and functional compliance of the design to its specification.
Assist in the preparation and review of product manuals, application notes, service documentation, etc.
Carries the design from concept to manufacture according to PMP. This involves working in a collaborative crossfunctional team.
Create detailed hardware design documentation tracking product development.
System design documentation and training for transfer to sustaining engineering and service
Create detailed hardware design documentation tracking product development.
Conducts experimental tests, analyzes test data, and writes test reports to record operating performance and provide data to support product compliance with customer or internal specifications and applicable third party standards
May represent company as a customer contact regarding significant technical matters as required
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, specialized in Power Electronics

years proven experience developing high power products
High power (utility scale) bi-directional converters
Experience with design practices, safe work practices, and experimental techniques used in 480 VAC (and preferably higher voltage) 3 phase power systems
Knowledge of power electronics for inverters or motor drives and ability to analyze and troubleshoot power electronics hardware circuit design.
Knowledge of power circuits - busing, cabling, thermal management, gate drives, voltage isolation requirements
Electronics debug skills: PCBA debug in complex systems; experience using multimeter, oscilloscopes, Power Analyzers, signal and spectrum analyzers, and other tools
Demonstrated project awareness and technical leadership skills
Ability to work with team engineers and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
