Position Description/Requirements
Position Description:
Dow Corning's Carrollton, KY chemical manufacturing facility seeks a Civil Engineer/Capital Project Manager to be responsible for coordination of capital projects at this facility as well as projects at our Alabama Silicon Metal and Elizabethtown Chemical Manufacturing plants. As Capital Project Manager/Civil Engineer at Dow Corning you be part of our Global Capital Engineering (GCE) Team that provides engineering guidance and approval of civil engineering construction work packages. This role will be responsible for facilities in the Southern United States but will based at our Carrollton, Kentucky facility where the majority of the projects will occur. As a Civil Engineer/Capital Project Engineer you will develop and manage project timeliness, resources and cost estimates for multiple capital projects in a matrix organization.
Additional Duties and
Responsibilities:
As a Civil Engineer/Capital Project Manager you will gather requirements and inputs from multiple sources, define business objectives and translate objectives into discrete projects.
This position is directly responsible for definition of major capital projects, leading a team of technical specialists and third party firms in development of the Process Design Package, detailed engineering, procurement, and construction activities. This role will build consensus and obtain buy in to handle multiple projects in a fast pace environment. You will provide overall coordination of Carrollton site infrastructure expense planning and execution as well as represent GCE south as civil representative on various civil/related Engineering Expertise Teams (EETs). Additionally, this role will provide senior management with accurate cost reporting through all project phases, including budgeting, forecasting, contingency utilization and change control.
Required Education and
Experience:
The selected candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and a Professional Engineering license (transferable to state of KY).
A minimum of 7 years of civil engineering, or capital project management experience in chemical/petrochemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing operations is required.
The ability to manage cross functional teams executing large complex projects on time and at budget is required.
Must have strong working knowledge in Structural Civil Engineering, and applications and use of Design software such as (Microstation, Plant 4D, Bentley Structural, SAP, Microsoft Project, Autocad, RAM Elements) .
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Must have intimate knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction work flows in the chemical/petrochemical/industrial business area.
- Capable of planning organizing and running multiple small projects up to $50M.
- Must have excellent knowledge of all areas of engineering execution, discipline interface, how information flows between disciplines and how to tailor them to the project.
- Ability to relate well at all levels of an organization, building the appropriate rapport, as well as constructive and effective relationships.
- Excellent knowledge of materials management process across all accounts and all phases of the project life cycle and of construction execution and interfaces with engineering and procurement.
- Maintain full awareness of project statuses, assigned resources, issues and budget implications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practices
- Intimate knowledge of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction work flows in the chemical/petrochemical/industrial business area.
- Possess excellent communication, presentation, problem solving and decision making skills with taskforce, EPC firms and with Dow Corning Management.
- Ability to travel throughout the Americas Southern Region

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
