Working in our Global Research business as Editor you will be a key member of the In-House Editorial team responsible for managing the peer review process, copyediting content as needed, moving manuscripts into production, soliciting review articles/ commentaries, and implementing new product development activities for a list of key Wiley-owned journal titles in the Life Sciences (initial focus will be on Journal of Neuroscience Research). Responsibilities include working with Wiley Editors and submitting authors to assure that manuscripts published in the journals are up to required standards in both form and quality. You will interact with Technology and Content Management colleagues to emphasize use of new technology to facilitate processes. You will ensure that all issues, articles, or other publication products are delivered to Wiley Content Management in accordance with prescribed expectations regarding quality, style, page budget, and timeliness, in an efficient manner. You will in addition work with the In-House Editorial team to develop and grow secondary revenue streams. This position is expected to grow into an editor-in-chief role for the journal within the first year of employment.
Projected start date of position: December 1, 2014.
Requirements:
Life Science related degree a must
PhD or equivalent experience preferred in neuroscience or a closely related field with research experience in neuroscience
2
years' experience of handling peer-review processes/independent decision making/conflict resolution
Understanding of the financial drivers in journal publishing
Familiarity with and proficiency in content acquisition techniques
Knowledge of the ethical issues important in peer-review
Familiarity with the neuroscience author and referee communities
Familiarity with journal/manuscript handling systems
Excellent command of the English language
Ability to work and live in the US and to travel domestically and internationally
A broad interest in science and publishing
