Network Engineer - Optical
We have an immediate contract opportunity with a large F500 client in the Menlo Park, CA area.
Our client is looking for a Network Deployment Engineer to join their Edge and Network Services team. This team is responsible for deploying and supporting one of the world's largest and complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in all aspects of networking.
Responsibilities
oDeploy, configure, and support a large-scale production and corporate network and server infrastructure in data centers and Point of Presence (POP) sites across many regions.
oCreate and maintain optical network designs for metro, regional and long-haul DWDM rings/systems.
oGenerate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities.
oResponsible for network documentation, updating and maintaining optical network drawings and plans
oCompile Bill of Materials for each deployment and maintenance
oCollaborate with vendors/manufacturers to evaluate new hardware/software and create optical standards for network deployment teams.
oCreating Scope of Work documentation and ordering cross connects
oVerify and validate cross connect and light levels before enabling the circuit.
oWork with network provisioning engineers to turn up new circuits and engage and escalate with vendors to troubleshoot out-of-service or faulty circuits
oSchedule and perform network maintenance, repair, and upgrade tasks as needed while limiting the impact on the production network
oWork closely with Network Engineering, Logistics, and equipment vendors as new equipment and technologies are integrated into the production network.
oQueue Management for tasks and incidents, participate in ongoing DC/POP deployment projects
oResponsible for asset management of networking gear in datacenter and POP sites including RMA
oProactively contribute to documentation, automation and processes as they evolve
oManage stock quantities and use logistics to prepare for installations in the near future
oParticipate in on call activities and follow escalation process to support the infrastructure 24/7
Requirements
oHands-on experience with basic optical communication equipment including optical amplifiers, coherent transponders and other WDM equipment
oExperience with optical network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or large enterprise networks
oUnderstanding of optical theory, transport technologies and the operation of optical transport systems.
oExperience with field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, data centers and Central Office environments.
oExperience with optical test equipment and solid optical troubleshooting skills using OTDR, OSA, BERT and optical power meters.x
oTechnical knowledge of various regional Data Center electrical and cooling configurations, IEC, NEMA standards, AC/DC power, power redundancy scenarios
oExperience creating rack elevations and other planned/install/as-built documentation.
oThe ideal candidate will have 2
years' experience in cross connects and circuit provisioning.
oSolid understanding of data center design and operational best practices
oAbility to work in fast-paced and dynamic environments with limited supervision
oStrong attention to detail with excellent time management and organization skills
oAbility to work in a global team environment
o10% of travel required
oAbility to lift/move 30-40 lbs on a daily basis.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
