Basic Function: Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claim assignments involving multiple lines of insurance within an assigned territory and assist in training other claim personnel as requested. Territory will include Pennington, Custer, Shannon and Fall River counties and the office is located in Rapid City Contribute to the financial success of FBL by effectively determining if losses are covered under the terms of an existing policy. Set priorities and plan activities to manage an inventory of selected field investigation assignments in a manner that meets quantity and quality job expectations and service standards within the Senior Field Claim Representative s authority. Be thorough and imaginative in investigations. Determine the cause and origin of property losses. Maintain professional and productive relationships with agents, agency managers, claimants, policyholders, doctors, attorneys, and others so as to bring credit to the claims department and the company. Keep a service-oriented attitude at all times. Assist in ensuring efficient operations during natural disasters by resolving claims during storm operations. Assure claims are settled in accordance with regulations and policy language by keeping current with existing and pending claims precedents and legislation. Document investigations, evaluations, recommendations, and plans of action. Cooperate with departments to ensure the aims and objectives of FBL are achieved. Develop and maintain plans with the Business Center Claim Consultant s assistance to improve the performance and knowledge of claim adjusters and other claim personnel in assigned areas.
Qualifications: College degree or equivalent required plus at least 5 years multi-line field adjusting experience. Associate in Claims (AIC) or Senior Claims Law Associate (SCLA) designation required. A valid driver s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Records are required. Must be able to work under all kinds of weather conditions and fully appraise all physical aspects of the property and buildings. Some travel with overnight stays. Must be proficient in using computers and Microsoft office products. Ability to interpret policy coverages, investigate and evaluate claims, determine liability, appraise physical damage losses, settle bodily injury claims and adjust property losses up to level of authority. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
