Summary
The Associate Professional Counselor is responsible for providing personal, social, career/vocational and/or academic counseling and guidance services. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Typical Functions
Conducts personal and group counseling sessions, performs crisis intervention, recommends action based on evaluation and makes referrals to mental health, social, or professional counseling services. Recommends clients for job placement in development programs, gathers client files and records, develops treatment plans for clients, refers clients to mental health, social service, or professional counseling services, determines urgency of client''s needs through intake evaluations and discusses cases with staff. Plans, schedules, administers, and scores self-assessment tests, obtains test publications, collects data, and develops reports. Develops informational literature, updates and distributes information, maintains resource library, and mails information to various organizations. Researches professional journals to keep abreast of counseling trends, develops new counseling strategies, makes presentations, conducts workshops, attends conferences, prepares brochures, displays, and public service announcements, and compiles activity reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Experience
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor''s degree in counseling or related field; plus three years of experience in counseling or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

The starting salary for this position is $32,249.00. All salary offers are subject to approval by the Office of Personnel Management subject to authority provided by the state pay plan.
College degree and/or transcripts and DD214/NGB-22 must be attached to application or faxed to for additional qualification processes.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
