AIG Staff Counsel has an opening for a Managing Attorney in Glastonbury, CT. The office handles both general liability, as well as workers compensation work, throughout the entire State of CT.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Responsible for all aspects of development and supervision of attorneys within the office
Handle daily trials, hearings, court appearances and WC appearances on daily basis to ensure appropriate coverage.
Ensure delivery of quality legal representation and service to clients and Claims.
Responsible for aggressive marketing/growth of new lines of business
Serve as point of contact for the Claims offices, and responsibility for addressing issues that arise, whether file or personnel related.
Responsible for identifying training needs of staff as well as partnering with the Claims' organization to provide training to Claims.
Responsible for developing strong legal talent within the office
Ensure the office budget is balanced; overseeing and monitoring expenditures and any
billing requirements
Required to deliver reports to upper management timely and thoroughly. Minimum 10 years experience handling general liability and worker''s compensation litigation
Must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in the State of CT.
Managing experience required.
Previous relationship with AIG is a plus.
Must have strong legal and management skills required to run a strong defense litigation office.
Must have strong ability to lead and deal with personnel issues when required
Excellent computer skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel/Power Point
Strong ability to train and market is required
Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills.
