Express Specialized Recruiting Group is looking for an experienced Piping Designer for a local MS Gulf Coast business.
Primary Function:
A qualified Piping Designer under direction from the Principal Project Manager, responsible for preparation of drawing packages within project budget and schedule requirements interfacing other engineering disciplines to particular area of expertise. The Piping Designer will check systems for compliance to specifications and serve as liaison between engineers, designers, and drafters.
Typical Duties of this Piping Designer position include:
Piping Designer must be able to produce all design drawings from rough sketches; notes, vendor drawings or general directions from others. Ability to complete total project design, through personal work or the use of other personnel. Understanding of all aspects of typical piping specifications and materials used in industrial facilities.
Proficient in preparing isometric as well as orthographic piping drawings.
Able to make field sketches and then prepare drawings from these field notes.
Schedule work of self to complete project design documents.
Interface with other designers and engineers providing and receiving information on design requirements.
Check all work for compliance to contract SOW.
Provide bulk material take off material such as valves, and fittings as required.
Track and register drawings.
Job Requirements:
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience for the Piping Designer position include:
AA in drafting, vocational technical and previous experience as a Designer/Drafter with fifteen to twenty years of industrial, chemical plant experience or equivalent.
Thorough knowledge of drafting and design standards and techniques in the area of piping, and mechanical drafting.
Thorough understanding of documentation and document control procedures
Proficient in AutoCad and special programs (Cad Pipe for example)
Proficient in use of personal computer.
