## Description
Manage sourcing initiatives for specific functional/operational areas or specific spend categories. To continuously deliver value-added category management activities which include strategic sourcing, client stakeholder management, supplier performance management, supply market monitoring, continuous improvement and ongoing cost reductions, supplier review and issue resolution.
This position requires strong leadership skills and sourcing experience. Candidates for this position should have a demonstrated track record of developing and advancing category sourcing strategies that support key business objectives / priorities and result in significant cost savings and process improvements across a range of major spend categories. Position requires specific experience leading structured sourcing efforts for a wide range of categories, with a specific focus on HR, Technology, Legal, and Facilities sourcing initiatives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and execute supply management programs for assigned categories. Prepare strategic category plans and effectively manage the strategic sourcing process, including the development of Request for Quotes (RFQs) and Request for Proposals (RFPs).
Work collaboratively with internal clients and stakeholders to quantify requirements, timing and scope to fully manage supply chain strategies in assigned categories.
Conduct spend analyses across multiple spend categories
Investigate, analyze, and forecast developments in the markets and/or industries of assigned categories to ascertain market conditions, price trends, innovations, production methods and processes.
Develop sourcing strategies which maximize value and reduce or optimize risk for the internal client and IDEXX. Sourcing strategies will account for supply management, demand management and process efficiency and optimization for a given category.
Lead an objective, transparent and collaborative cross- functional evaluation of supplier's capabilities based on qualitative and quantitative value drivers such as total cost of ownership, quality, service, innovation and performance. Recommend contract award decisions based on the realization of the sourcing team strategy and objectives.
Lead negotiation strategy development and execution in partnership with select stakeholders and business partners. Negotiate contract terms for master agreements, schedules and amendments in accordance with approved IDEXX, Procurement and Legal policies and procedures.
Implement and oversee supplier on-boarding and ongoing management processes for select suppliers. Actively manage select supply relationships to realize maximum value for an optimized risk structure.
Ensure manager remains informed or knowledgeable of those strategies/processes that have proven to be successful as well as suppliers that have met or exceeded IDEXX sourcing goals/standards.
Manage meetings and participant communications to effectively drive decisions and action items. May oversee project managers to support initiatives involving procurement, price negotiation, and supplier sourcing strategies. May lead, develop and oversee projects and department financials.
May mentor, train and coach others.
May manage staff, assign work, monitor activities, evaluate performance and manage escalated/critical issues. Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development. Support the development and management of department policies and procedures.
## Qualifications
EDUCATION :
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in a manufacturing or new product design/development capacity
Member of ISM (formerly NAPM) with a C.P.M. or A.P.I.C.S. C.P.M. certification preferred
EXPERIENCE :
5
years in Strategic Sourcing, new product development, or category or commodity management.
5
years experience working in high-volume medical device/biochemical manufacturing industry preferred.
Training and/or experience with lean and six sigma practices; black belt a plus or preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to communicate and present technical information to all levels of the organization and to supplier companies
Demonstrated ability to facilitate and manage meetings
Demonstrated strategic sourcing / negotiation skills and techniques, knowledge in contract negotiation strategies, administration of contracts and confidentiality disclosures
Demonstrated ability to negotiate with, influence, and facilitate cross-functional teams involving multiple competing tasks and goals
Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
Strong background in strategic sourcing, supply chain management programs, and the ability to assess supplier capability
Strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to lead projects and/or teams
Ability to develop and deliver large-scope projects
Ability to analyze data in order to summarize and recommend action plans/strategies
Ability to read and analyze complex drawings/documents, governmental regulations, technical procedures in mathematical or diagram form, and financial statements
Proficient in SAP APO, MRP, data base management and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Experience with enterprise-wide systems (i.e. SAP, LiveLink, etc.)
Knowledge of GMP or ISO 9001:2000 requirements preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Some International and North American travel may be required
