# Job Description
The SR ENGINEER in PLANNNING & CAPACITY will be responsible for Regional Network Planning within a defined geographical region.
The primary responsibility of the Senior Planning Engineer will be to maintain network architecture, planning design, and cost analysis for network solutions to support bandwidth expansions, product deployments, new service launches and customer solutions.
This position will assist in providing solutions to diverse and complex engineering problems/projects that typically have many alternatives and require customized creative solutions.
Must be able to quickly decipher 60 - 80 of service inquires per month and provide network solutions within a response time of 3 - 6 days.
Must be able to balance both reactive and proactive work load, quickly respond to chronic issues, and possess the analytical skills necessary to resolve multifaceted network issues.
The Planning Engineer will also be responsible for providing fiber routes/designs/cost estimates for other internal teams including Transport Engineering, Access Planning, Field Operations and Government Services Division.
Partnering with peers within the Regional Planning, Engineering and Operations team as well as with Sales teams is critical to the overall success of the group.
The Planner will utilize a number of different of resources and systems to obtain a network solution.
Resources include ASPEN historical data, QVO, FiberBase, CTL, legacy Qwest & OnFiber As Builts drawings, Google Earth maps, Map Info tables, legacy OnFiber OASys system & FASTrack.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (or related field), or equivalent work experience.
The candidate typically has 6 or more years of relevant work experience in the Planning and Engineering field.
