_Position Summary_
Help maintain high departmental efficiency by tying in warps in an efficient manner while maintaining the quality of the warp. The tie-in operator also assists with other positions in the department
Principal Accountabilities
1. Must observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed. Will be responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions. Must attend all monthly scheduled Safety Meetings.
2. Straighten loose ends prior to tying new warp. Ensures that all ends are in lease and straight at completion of warp tie-in procedure with no cotton or other material propped under drop wires.
3. Remove bat and put aside until new warp is tied.
4. Check all selvages before leasing out. Remove all doubles in cloth ,if any before tying warp.
5. Brush out old warp and make sure all ends are straight. Put in comb and put rubber band on each end of comb and secure with waste string in middle of comb.
6. Run lease under yarn, loosen nut with wrench, pull warp out of gear, roll empty warp out on loom support brace each one time, cut loose, brush ends well, pull comb back to lease stuck and roll up to drop wires. Take clamp, lay on whip roll, pull yarn off to make sure warp ends are straight, cut tails off new warp, throw over whip roll, bring back under warp, put clamp in warp ends, cut off excessive yarn, and put across warp.
7. Secures tie in machine frame, pushes to loom, set in place, pull yarn over frame from new warp until tape comes over tie in frame, put warp ends and pull over to brush. Take second clamp down, take two clamps from frame and lay on top of other clamps, pull pattern ends over frame and clamp down. Take clamp off, comb clean, lay back on frame, set tension on arm, turn four bars up so frame will move. Pull pin out, loosen tension on warp, place machine in frame and start.
8. Operator must stay with tie in machine until warp is tied. Place tie in machine back in box.
9. Remove all clamps and put on frame.
10. Start loom and run knots through drop wires through reed. Start loom and make sure warp is straight.
11. Number of crossed ends allowed is zero.
12. Put all thread waste in waste buggy.
13. Assist in repairing breakouts of tens or more.
14. Assist in repairing smashes of seven or more ends.
15. Follow all safety rules, plant rules, department rules and implement total quality in his/her area of responsibility.
16. Participate in Plant Corrective Action Team Program.
17. Participate in Plant Safety Program.
18. Report all unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience Preferred: High School Diploma/ GED; one to three months' related experience and/or training.
