Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for an Electrical Technician to work in one of the following locations: Windsor, WI or Beaver Dam, WI. In this challenging role you will test and maintain supervisory and other controls, telemetering and load regulating apparatus. You will also assist with installations, test electrical equipment throughout company area and check newly installed apparatus and equipment.
Tests and maintains supervisory and other electrical control equipment
Works with communication companies in installations and troubleshooting
Works with engineers on proposed changes in such equipment and directs or assists with installations as required
Instructs employees in operating this apparatus
Tests and maintains electric and gas telemetering apparatus
Works with communication companies on operational problems
Directs or assists with installations as required
Inspects, tests and adjusts newly installed apparatus in substations or generating stations, such as setting automatic tap changers, LTC tap position indicators, instruments on switchboards, phasing circuits, checking PT and CT transformer ratios, digital fault and event recorders, and 900 Mhz remote and master radios
Install, adjusts, tests and maintains relays and associated equipment as required
Assists districts in investigating interference problems of radio and television reception throughout company territory and takes necessary steps to correct situation
Advises district personnel on proper methods of detection and elimination of radio and television interference
Terminates and makes loss measurements on substation fiber optic cables
Performs all work according to established safety practices
Performs all duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position
Working Conditions -
Indoors and outdoors; daytime hours, except in emergencies; some exposure to dirt, dust, oil, etc.; exposure to electrical hazards.
Relocation funds may be available.

Education or a combination of training and experience equivalent to three years'' study in an engineering college
Six years of technical experience in electrical apparatus testing and maintenance work
Proven technical experience in plant and substation electrical work
Proven ability to direct and work with others
Demonstrated mechanical and analytical ability
Aptitude for detail
Demonstrated ability to use a computer and associated software, Windows, Excel, Word, and communication packages.
Proficiency in trip testing and taking secondary load checks
Demonstrated resourcefulness to handle unusual technical situations
Physical ability to perform job duties
Valid driver''s license
Ability to work effectively
in a culturally diverse work group
NOTE:
This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
