Position Description
This position assists inmaintaining the computing environment of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County (Metro) as an individual performer as well as a team member of the Communications Technology Team in the Department of Information Technology Services (ITS). The person in this position is expected to demonstrate expertise and proficiency in switching and routing for Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) both wired and wireless.
_ITS is a 24x7 information technology shop. Applicant must be willing and available to perform duties as required by the job. This may include occasional work on nights, weekends and holidays as necessary._

Typical Duties:
Responsible for the design, purchase, build, installation and support of data communications products
Develop purchase requirements and ensure adherence to specifications
Ensure the overall health of the data communications infrastructure maintaining all components at optimal operating level
Maintain and update all hardware, software, tools and peripherals associated with the data communications infrastructure
Report usage and trend analysis
Identify, diagnose, and resolve connectivity problems and issues
Manage patches and hardware and software configuration upgrades
Coordinate third-party and vendor activities
Work independently to coordinate multiple complex initiatives between various departments to facilitate desired outcomes
Coordinate project staff, which may cross organizational lines, to successful outcomes
Research and develop solutions to difficult issues, and present alternatives to management
Independently explore and develop and implement solutions to complex issues
Lead efforts across multiple functional areas to develop and implement solutions to complex enterprise issues
Contribute to the development of standards of Metro-wide and ITS policies and procedures
Lead the creation and maintenance of standard practices, policies and procedures specific to functional area
Communicate technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences
Minimum
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and considerable experience in managing moderate to complex data communications projects. Valid Class D Driver's License.
_Candidate must receive and maintain a passing status from Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) background check._
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
CCNA Certification
Considerable experience working with LAN/WAN Technology
Considerable experience identifying, diagnosing, and resolving connectivity problems and issues
Focused experience with Wireless Technology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal and collaboration skills

Salary: $73,653.31 - $109,311.12 Annually
Job Type: Full-Time Civil Service
Location: 800 Second Avenue South, Nashville, TennesseeEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
