Position Description:
Manages the Quality Assurance and/or Environmental functions at the division level as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual and Corporate Quality Mission Statement. Responsible for the implementation of the quality program internally and interfacing with suppliers and customers on quality issues. Acts as the Management Representative for Quality and Environmental reporting purposes. Maintains a high level of interaction with Sales, Purchasing and Operation departments (requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills). Maintains work in a professional and timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Manage Quality Assurance/Environmental Function
Work with the Director of Corporate Quality to develop and implement policies and procedures
Follow up on corrective actions to suppliers for problems as necessary.
Track corrective action responses to customers and assist in the generation as necessary.
Manage the upkeep, maintenance and repair of company property.
Manage the storage, retrieval and generation of material certifications.
Assist of other departments in continuous improvement activities.
Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOP) for all equipment and facility-related processes ensuring that good quality practices are followed.
Act as a technical liaison between other divisions.
Maintain quality program to be in compliance with ISO/TS16949 or customer requirements.
Act as a training resource to other departments for quality related issues.
Manage reduction of internal yield losses and scrap rejects.
Manage / Conduct internal audits as necessary of the quality/ environmental function.
Maintain the non-conforming inventory accurately.
Manage activities of quality inspection, certification, and engineering staff.
Organize Work and Manage Human Resources
Maintain an effective organizational structure.
Ensure that proper staffing levels and employee skill levels are optimized.
Adjust work hours, priorities and staff assignments to ensure efficient operation.
Develop, implement and clearly communicate performance metrics to all employees.
Utilize performance management tools such as coaching and performance reviews to provide continuous feedback, identify development needs and objectively measure progress for direct reports. Recommend compensation changes as appropriate.
Fully support and participate in safety audits, meetings, training and corrective actions.
Motivate workforce through effective business communications, both formally and informally.
Support employee programs that support of key business objectives (Fe Award, etc.)
Interface with Customers
Work with sales to identify potential customers and applications.
Contribute to potential customer presentations as necessary.
Interface with customers as a technical liaison.
Manage customer claims and follow up on acceptance, disposition, valuation and reasons.
Act as a technical resource for customer base.
Respond to customer requests for information (surveys).
Interface with Suppliers
Participate with purchasing in the selection of new suppliers based upon capabilities.
Maintain with purchasing the Supplier Rating System.
Coordinate the claim process with suppliers.
Act as a technical liaison with the supply base.
Conduct Administrative and Miscellaneous Duties
Support corporate initiatives including business process improvement, Flawless Execution (Fe), and single system implementation.
Attend division meetings contribute and lead divisional initiatives as required.
Participate in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitor expenditures.
Assist in the development of departmental objectives.
Practice effective record keeping procedures; manage department records in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and standards.
Proactively develop and implement a professional development program that includes 40 hours of training annually.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Associate?s degree in a related filed required. Bachelor?s degree in Engineering or Industrial Management is highly desired.
5 years? experience with 3 years? applicable quality management experience with carbon steel orcommensurate Olympic experience required.
Individual Divisions may specify additional specialized experience such as robotics, welding, metallurgy, etc., based on the specialized needs of the Division.
Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and other related quality processes such as ISO and QS9000.
Knowledge of inventory management, materials production and quality control.
Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations, procedures and assisting with the development of new initiatives.
Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational & planning skills; Skills in budget preparation and fiscal management.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
Proficiency in Lotus Notes, MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel applications and Olympic computer systems a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
