Yahoo currently has a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, Senior position available at our office in Lockport, NY. Duties: Work on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires in depth evaluation of various factors which may be difficult to define, develop quality standards for Yahoo! products, certification and execution of software test plans and analysis of test results. Write test cases, develop automated tests, execute test cases and document results, and work closely with engineers and product managers while writing defect descriptions. Write white-box/black-box API level tests for the YDHT/Tribble projects. Automate tests using Perl/Java and execute them on the QE Farms. Analyze failures during test execution and determine if test case or software under test is in error. Write test code to fully characterize the software defect responsible for test failures. Work with developers to debug issues and enter full analysis into Bugzilla. Design new tests based on findings from existing tests and product design. Provide detailed test execution summaries & defect reports. Minimize the impact of software upgrades/downgrades to customers. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field and 6 months of experience in the job offered of in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include:
1. Writing QA test plans and test cases and in executing them;
2. QA methodologies, procedures and documentation;
3. Relational databases and MySQL;
4. Hands-on experience in back-end testing of Linux/Unix based applications and distributed systems;
5. Agile software development with REST APIs incorporating JSON;
6. Scripting language such as Perl, PHP, or Shell;
7. C+
or Java.
