Purpose and Contribution
This role exists to: create optimal functional specifications that outline in detail the changes we need to make in our systems and applications to meet the clients' requirements. Our analysts are an important face to our clients, and ensure that through their output and interactions, the client believes that we provide the best technology solutions with great customer service.
Duties and Tasks
The BSA is responsible for creating the functional specifications that define the details of the systemic changes we need to make to our products to support the client's business needs. The BSA works with the other technology teams, both internally and with the client, to understand the business requirements, high level design, and current system capabilities to come up with the functional specifications for our systems. A successful BSA challenges complexity and provides solutions that are simple and support the long-term maintainability and sustainability of our products.
Prepare for and attend business requirements and high level design reviews.
Understand our technology stack, offerings and capabilities quickly to effectively use in design sessions.
Create functional specifications based on high level requirements and design, such that developers and testers can execute against.
Estimate level of effort for the defined scope.
Conduct design reviews, both internally and with the client.
Conduct demos for our projects/features with the client.
Create mockups for proposed application capability, present to appropriate teams and get approval.
Work on-site with clients during requirement gathering and solution definition stages, and provide periodic on-site updates throughout execution as needed.
Skills and Experience
The role requires strong business and technical expertise, an ability to quickly understand the landscape, and broad knowledge of software platforms and enterprise architectures to be able to deliver solutions to the client.
Prior applications development experience with Microsoft Technologies (.NET, SQL Server, XML, SOAP, Web Services)
5 Years minimum of Systems Analyst experience
Experience working and collaborating with Business Stakeholders, Clients, Account Managers, Technical Architects, Project Managers, Developers and Testers.
Comprehend and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Project management skills
Strong experience with technical documentation (UML, Sequence Diagrams, Data Flow Diagrams, Use Cases, Functional Specifications, High Level Design, etc.)
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Experience in order management, product information management, and other supply chain systems and applications strongly preferred.
Enjoy working in an environment that includes rapid, frequent change - and embrace the time requirements and pressure that attend last-minute change or discovery.
Relationships
Works with:
Business Analysts and Solutions/Systems Architects (internal and client) to understand the business requirements and the goals of the project, as well as the high level design laid out to meet those requirements. The BSA is a very active participant in this phase, as it will determine the rest of the roadmap of the project, and our ability to deliver successfully. A great BSA's contribution will not only be heard, but will be sought in creating the high level design.
Internal Development and Testing team to come up with the detailed design of the project. The BSA solicits and encourages a constant feedback loop from the development team to shape the functional specifications, and presents a document that is easy to understand and work off of. A strong functional specification would be one that is sufficient for the development team to know what they have to do, and for the testing team to write their test cases.
Release/Project Managers to provide updates on their projects and deliverables.
Works with Product Management and Product Development to share customer insights, feedback and potential features.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
