Job Description
Accountants at TD Bank perform a variety of accounting functions for an assigned line(s) of business, and/or specializes in a particular accounting area(s) with technical accounting knowledge to give detailed and informed accounting opinions of assigned business activities.
Job Requirements
Participate in General Ledger (GL) projects, including new system interfaces, system reconfigurations & fixes, and disaster recovery
Partner with Technology in testing, sign-off, and implementation activities
Requires limited supervision, demonstrates ability to interact with clients on a wide range of topics
Lead GL oversight efforts - perform system access & control environment reviews, share best practices, and monitor & report on exception processing
Correct GL out-of-balance situations - requires strong knowledge of subsystems & related source codes
Perform a variety of activities related to month-end financial closing, including reconciliations & flux analyses
Review monthly financial activity to ensure transactions are recorded in proper accounts - research discrepancies and make corrections as necessary
Ensure monthly recording of income, expense, and other financial transactions is accurate & timely
Maintain complete understanding of assigned accounts and related accounting requirements
Review GL activity on a regular basis and make various journal entries as needed
Analyze accounting treatment of various transactions to ensure proper recording, including complex activities such as purchase accounting & amortization schedules for acquisitions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or progressive work experience in addition to experience below
3-5 Years of related experience
Accounting knowledge, including FASB and GAAP regulations, particularly in assigned line(s) of business
Curious and observant with willingness to investigate to understand details of assigned business lines/accounts
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Proactive, with ability to obtain necessary information and influence others in a tactful way without direct authority
Prior participation in financial reporting projects beneficial but not required.
