Summary:
Accountable for maintenance, equipment repair, regulatory requirements, safety and sanitation requirements. Develops and maintains plant preventative maintenance programs. Leads projects involving installation, modification, or renovation of past building and equipment. Collaborates with corporate engineers, suppliers, contractors, and plant partners to ensure customer needs are met. Leads efforts to upgrade facility for efficiency, safety and reliability. Controls labor costs, hiring, scheduling, and development of maintenance partners in team-oriented environment. Manages repairs and supplies, purchases, and budgets. Assures compliance with government regulatory agencies.

PRIMARY
Responsibilities:

Supervise equipment repairs and preventative maintenance activities of electronics and shop mechanics on specific shift. Ensure that assigned equipment and systems are adequately maintained to support production, quality, and safety requirements.
Organize and direct the activities of the shift electronic and shop mechanics; successfully complete projects and repairs to the manufacturing equipment within the plant maximizing production outputs and product quality; coordinate these activities with other groups as shifts require
Evaluate the performance of assigned maintenance employees and arrange appropriate action for improvement including training, counseling, etc.; keep subordinates advised of plant standards and individual job performance
Implement the Plant Preventative Maintenance program within assigned areas; modify individual equipment P.M.'s and continually evaluate the program's effectiveness
Ensure that assigned maintenance functions are performed in accordance with G.M.P., OSHA, local codes, corporate guidelines, plant procedures, and the union contract; participate in and support the plant safety program
Effectively control assigned project costs and maintenance activities within budget; assure that an adequate, but minimum, stock of parts for the project or area is available in conjunction with stockroom personnel; verify usage records are accurate
Conduct regular inspections of equipment and systems to evaluate the effectiveness of repairs; submit cost, G.M.P. and methods improvement proposals
Substitute for other Maintenance Supervisors as required to cover temporary absences and vacancies
Responsible to have safe work instructions available for all positions, processes are run in accordance with SOP's, SOPP's and other documentation. All employees have the required level of safety training, all equipment and installations are well maintained with safety guards & devices and associates are using the appropriate PPE.
To assure activities being performed having an environmental impact are communicated and accomplished according to the environmental management systems.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

College degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years supervisory experience required, preferably in union environment.
Must have a strong mechanical background in high speed packaging equipment and/or continuous process systems, including experience with PLC's and process controls.
Experience in confections or food manufacturing preferred.
Involvement in continuous improvement or other specialized teams preferred.


SKILLS:

Strong computer skills and proficiency Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Strong communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
Strong problem-solving and coaching skills required.
Needs to be well organized and detail orientated.
