Responsibilities
The Facilities Engineer is responsible for contributing to the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of the Facilities Engineering and Maintenance departments. These departments, along with the associated manufacturing departments, are responsible for limiting process downtime, extending equipment life, and selecting new equipment that supports the production process. This position is also responsible for maintaining the general facility infrastructure.
The Facilities Engineer will lead preventative maintenance programs, provide facility planning, implement continuous improvement projects, utilize project management skills for projects, and support mechanical integrity and Process Safety Management programs. This position reports to the Facilities Engineering Manager.
Act as lead contact person for organizing and coordinating maintenance activities.
Provide direction on daily activities for the UTAS Maintenance mechanics.
Utilize the SAP CMMS to track facility maintenance activities.
Supervise facility contractor activities.
Manage Process Safety Management (PSM) aspects for contractor and related activities.
Enforce UTAS safety policies relating to maintenance work.
Take lead role in identifying building and site needs and projects.
Review internal and external customer requirements as they relate to Facilities and Operations needs.
Develop detailed requests for quotations for engineering services, facilities, equipment, and construction services.
Prepare presentations and communicate proposed projects and their associated risks to the management team.
Manage capital projects in the $5K to $400K range at the moderate to complex level for Facilities and Operations areas.
Effectively track project expenses and timelines to plans and budgets.
Ability to work in a self-directed capacity while managing multiple projects.
Ability to exercise creativity with practical solutions.
Interface with and manage vendors and suppliers for cost effectiveness.
Display a thorough working knowledge of buildings and trades.
Assist other departments and complete other duties as assigned.
Participate in CI / ACE activities.
Maintain a high commitment to quality, thoroughness and efficiency in all work aspects.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Observe and follow all quality, environmental, health and safety procedures.
Comply with all other UTAS policies and procedures.
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering (Mechanical preferred) Minimum of two to five years of experience in the process chemical industry
Experience in a facilities / maintenance role.
Experience with maintenance programs, including Total Productive Maintenance
Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Comprehension of complex process and facilities problems, apply creativity and drive towards problem resolution.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as organizational ability.
Ability to lead contractors and maintenance personnel in day to day activities.
Extensive problem solving and analytical skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of business applications software such as the MS Office products.
Automation experience a plus.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience in a facilities / maintenance role.
Experience with maintenance programs, including Total Productive Maintenance
Lean Manufacturing (CI / ACE) experience
AutoCAD experience
Must be able to verify U.S. Person Status as defined by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
