The global Finance Function acts as a proactive business partner, advising and making recommendations based upon financial projections and historical performance. Finance also provides financial expertise companywide and ensures accurate and efficient transaction processing.
Purpose of the Position:
This global finance role will be a proactive business partner, providing finance expertise and support for financial and operational decision making as well as the achievement of key strategic initiatives. This role will the key contributor to the production of the Corning Optical Communications internal reporting and analysis decks as well as being a key liaison with the Corning Optical Communications finance teams in meeting all forecasting and planning deliverables. This position will focus on process improvement for all planning and analysis activities, driving to create a world class organization. Finally, this role would be on a succession path to the Manager, P&A position as well as plant finance opportunities.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Participate in weekly monthly forecast, budget (Black Book) and five year strategic plan (Green Book) processes for the Optical Communications sector. Work closely with divisional, commercial and PLM finance teams as well as the strategy group to develop and deploy all forecasting and planning activities, including recommending targets and improvement opportunities;
Perform robust financial analysis which helps identify performance drivers and the root causes of variances vs. benchmarks;
Partner with business partners/other functional groups to help them understand financial results, performance metrics and improve decision making capabilities through data;
Develop financial models to support project spending, cost forecasting and other needs on an ad hoc basis;
Drive improvements to the forecasting, budgeting and planning processes for the Optical Communications sector, reducing the cycle time and enhancing the quality accuracy of these processes;
Other projects supporting Optical Communications objectives and targets on an as needed basis;
Travel Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance plus 5-7 years relevant experience;
Prefer U.S. Big 4 public accounting firm experience;
Previous experience in Finance position(s) of a Fortune 500 multinational corporation;
Prefer previous manufacturing experience;

Performance Excellence experience (Six Sigma, lean processes) a plus;
Proficiency in PeopleSoft SAP Khalix a plus;

Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with Corning Incorporated, divisional, commercial and PLM finance teams and business customers/suppliers at all levels of the organization;
Comfortable challenging supplied inputs and questioning existing processes;
High energy, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision in a fast changing environment;
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
