This position involves a multi-grade career ladder . The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-13. At the GS-12 grade level, the employee performs assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. The employee will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-13. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. The position is located at the Quantico Information Technology Center (lTC) in Quantico, Virginia. The employee serves and is widely recognized as a subject matter expert in various Information Resources Management (IRM) disciplines and VA''s IRM community, especially in the UNIX/AIX and IBM PSeries environments. The employee superior knowledge and background result in the extensive working eforts of highly complex and technical work assignments in support of the organization and other departmental operating elements.
The major duties and responsibilities include: Provides extensive and complex UNIX/AIX kernel systems and enterprise operations to include; installations, microcode upgrades, systems design, kernel and NIM administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, dynamic logical partitioning, JFS2 file systems management, logical volume manager and complex security controls.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11 level). Specialized experience includes: preparing theoretical and analytical working documents for all phases of the system life cycle for computer engineering (i.e. preliminary studies, feasibility studies, technical design, etc.), managing major changes to the systems environment; implementing new application or conversion to new operating systems; developing, testing, and implementing new technologies; informing senior management of project progress through periodic briefings and reports. Expert knowledge in UNIX/AIX and IBM pSeries environments.
For the GS-13, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12 level). Specialized experience includes: preparing theoretical and analytical working documents for all phases of the system life cycle for computer engineering (i.e. preliminary studies, feasibility studies, technical design, etc.), managing major changes to the systems environment; implementing new application or conversion to new operating systems; developing, testing, and implementing new technologies; managing implementation and deployment; informing senior management of project progress through periodic briefings and reports; resolving virtually all technical and management problems including resources issues such as schedule delays and cost overruns; integrating the activities of multiple specialty areas. Expert knowledge in UNIX/AIX and IBM pSeries environments.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary; however, demands a high degree of mental and physical alertness. The nature and level of responsibility result in above normal work pressures and stresses. In addition, the employee will experience fatigue when working periods of night and weekend work (which may exceed 18 consecutive hours at times in the event of emergency down situations) to perform maintenance, installations and upgrades of large scale computer systems.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
