Job Details:
This position is available to employees of the Pharmacy
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, performs various technical duties relative to the unit dose drug distribution system. Serves as a support person to the Pharmacist in processing, preparing, and distributing drugs and intravenous (IV) solutions and chemotherapy doses.
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, trains new Technicians, performs advanced purchasing activities, checks medication processing in selected areas, and supports medication use system technology (e.g., Pyxis Medstations, etc.) as assigned.
Qualifications/Competencies
Currently registered with the State of Maine Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technicianrequired
Pharmacy Technician Board Certification (CPhT) is required
Technical training beyond high school is preferred
1 year or more experience in hospital pharmacy setting is preferred
Unit dose distribution.
Sterile product preparation.
Chemotherapy preparation.
Medication ordering functions.
Pyxis/CIISafe inventory management, system maintenance and troubleshooting
Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications
