As our Senior Toolmaker, you''ll manufacture prototypes and molds for Advanced R&D; footwear projects. You''ll set-up complex molds and tooling on Horizontal and Vertical CNC machining centers. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on prototyping for elite athletes and innovations that will not be seen at retail for years to come.
You''ll use high speed machining to work from a CAD file or blueprint to manufacture injection molds, prototype parts and tooling. You''ll also communicate with mold design staff and engineers to aid in final development of their components.
You''ll generate complex 2 and 3 dimensional cutter paths for CNC machines while working closely with Mold Designers to create accurate tool path. You''ll perform machining which includes surface grinding, manual milling and lathes. You''ll perform necessary handwork to complete final mold assembly, including polishing to high surface finishes. In addition, you''ll provide precision machining capability to support prototype requirements for small fixtures, tools and parts.
Must be able to set-up and run various vertical and horizontal CNC machines. Must be able to perform complex 3-D machining with minimal direction. You'll also communicate with our mold designers and shop supervisor to insure a smooth process flow; prepare materials and tooling according to set-up sheets/verbal instructions; generate 2D or 3D cutter path for CNC machines. Be able to handle manual machining functions using lathes, surface grinders and manual machines; and perform necessary handwork to complete final mold assembly, including polishing, welding and adjusting. Knowledge of mold manufacturing is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
## Qualifications
Associate''s degree in Machine Technology with 5 years'' practical machine shop experience
Familiar with the materials used in footwear a plus
Experience in a prototyping environment a plus
Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD/CAM programs is preferred
Knowledge of Delcam a plus
