The candidate filling this position will be joining a collaborative, business- savvy and innovative legal team, which was recently shortlisted as a finalist for The ILO Global Counsel Awards 2014 in the general commercial category. The candidate will be expected to work closely with other team members, clients and stakeholders to provide proactive, solution- based resolutions to client and corporate problems, while effectively managing legal risk. This position is accountable for general corporate counseling, contract review and litigation management for select sales, service and corporate divisions of the company
throughout the Americas (outside of the U.S.A). The candidate will be expected to have a keen understanding of both its clients individual business and corporate objectives, while delivering high quality legal services that both further such objectives and limit potential liabilities.
Contract review including commercial, financial and employment documentation and agreements, with particular focus expanding communication and advice to for all assigned divisions, including Latin American and Canadian subsidiaries.
Monitor disputes and litigation matters in the areas of credit, employment, insurance and commercial litigations; manage outside litigation counsel.
General corporate counseling.
Education
J.D. - Graduate of an accredited law school.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 -10 years of
Experience: major law firm and/or in-house law dept.(in-house and/or prior business experience highly desirable)
Strong customer service and practical business focus required.
Strong commercial contract experience required. Technology/soft IP background, including experience with technology contracts (SaaS, software licensing, distribution) strongly preferred.
Commercial litigation experience preferred.
Knowledge of the electronics industry preferred.
Experience working with Japanese clients beneficial.
Experience supporting sales and operations in Latin America and Canada a plus.
Bar admission and a member in good standing in at least one state in the United States. (If not NJ, in-house license will need to be obtained promptly)
Ability to work well with multiple cultures, across multiple jurisdictions and with many different kinds of personalities a must.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with the ability to make independent decisions and the judgment to know when to seek guidance.
Ability to deal with all levels of personnel, assess and analyze situations and determine appropriate action.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and process high volumes of work in a timely and accurate manner. Thrives in an environment of rapid change and easily handles shifting priorities.
Ability to rapidly assess potential risks, potential benefits and potential consequences of decisions.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite and performing legal research using computer databases.
Willingness to travel on an as-needed basis required (including International)

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
