Reporting to the Center-s Director of Operations and under the supervision of University without Walls Springfield Program Manager, coordinates and implements the UMass Center at Springfield pre-admissions advising and recruitment functions in close collaboration with wider community stakeholders with the goal of increasing the annual pool of well-qualified applicants. Provides individualized, high-level advising to prospective students. Co-develops/implements proactive recruitment, outreach and prospect management strategies
Job Description:
Pre-admissions advising:
Provides comprehensive, individualized admissions and transfer counseling to interested prospects in-person, by phone, by Skype, or by email.
Conducts transcript reviews, making initial determinations regarding the transferability of previous coursework, and the applicability of transfer course work to university general education requirements and other undergraduate degree requirements.
Advises prospective students on all aspects of the UWW program, including program structure, admissions, degree requirements, academic areas of interest, curriculum, educational and career goals, course delivery, earning credit for professional and military trainings, prior-learning credits, and university deadlines and processes, including financial aid, CLEP exams, and transferring credit.
Maintains the extensive knowledge -base of inter and intra-departmental policies and procedures necessary to deliver high-level advising.
Recruitment:
Along with Program Manager develops and implements annual recruitment and prospect management strategies, based on industry best practices and an analysis of past UWW practices, with the goal of increasing the annual pool of well-qualified applicants.
Organizes, develops content for, and implements in-person information sessions and information sessions using webinar technology.
Identifies recruitment opportunities and proactively identifies and recruits prospects at recruitment events.
Proactively recruits, nurtures, and tracks well-qualified prospects from lead phase to applicant phase in face-to-face settings, and by phone or email, with the goal of increasing the annual pool of well-qualified applicants.
Manages the ongoing organizational partnerships with Community Colleges.
Maintains detailed records of prospect contacts and communications.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor-s degree
A minimum of one year experience in recruiting, marketing communications, advertising, customer relationship management, public relations, or related field
Excellent verbal and written communication and project management skills
Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work in a team oriented environment
Ability to travel for recruiting opportunities
Experience working with diverse populations
Preferred
Understanding of higher education student administrative services
Familiarity with the greater Springfield communities and organizations
Experience working with an adult non-traditional population
Comments:
The University of Massachusetts plan to fill and retain this position is dependent on funding. No relocation assistance is provided. The position is located in Springfield, MA. Occasional travel throughout the Commonwealth and frequent travel throughout the region is required.
The starting salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000, and is commensurate with experience.
