Georgia-Pacific is currently recruiting for aReliability Engineerfor its TEAM/MSET Department. The TEAM/MSET department is based out of Pineland Texas and provides reliability support services to 17 lumber operations located in the Southern US and West Coast.
This position is regionally based in supporting the lumber mills located in South Carolina and North Carolina for a total of three (3) mills. Strong preference for candidates that live within this particular territory for support coverage.
Responsibilities:
The Reliability Engineer is responsible for all aspects of Predictive, Lubrication and Fluid Power reliability to ensure best possible operational equipment availability in the Lumber Operations. The role will actively interface with all levels of the organization within mill facilities, division management, and across company business units.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
Create an environment where the team achieves zero incidents in Environmental, Health and Safety
Lead and foster a safety culture that values risk identification and personal ownership, through a principle based approach
Lead and mentor employees to apply MBM in ways that are consistent with our Guiding Principles
Traveling to mill locations for to conduct training, troubleshooting, and mill assessments.
Provide training to mill personnel in hydraulic trouble shooting, hydraulic cleanliness, machinery alignment, machinery lubrication, root cause failure analysis, p/m development, predictive technology implementation
Develop training material and conduct training presentations
Conduct maintenance / reliability mill assessments
Develop and establish maintenance / reliability standards
Provide technical expertise and transfer knowledge to operators/technicians, department leaders, support capabilities, and shift leaders
Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the areas of safety, asset reliability, cost optimization, quality capability and productivity
Lead the effort to identify, investigate, recommend and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve productivity, yield, quality and/or reduce costs
Manage through prioritization of work requests for assets
Provide leadership to Reliability Technicians in a variety of disciplines to support plant safety, compliance and production goals
Manage reliability activities to improve equipment availability based on industry best practices for rotating/reciprocating machinery, electrical and instrumentation systems; and pressure vessels/piping systems
Lead development of preventative/predictive/spares maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
Work closely with production, maintenance and service teams to understand failure modes and effects and develop mitigation plans; prioritize and develop action plans for our reliability-centered maintenance system
Develop and mentor team members to improve skills for troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment and machinery failures; promote use of root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and information capture
Keep current with mill conditions, seeking to apply the most effective technologies available now and as they come available in the future
Promote TEAM growth
Promote Continuous Process Improvement
Integrate efforts with the maintenance, operations and engineering teams to extract best value from reliability efforts and initiatives
Ensure that systems and resources are in place for the inspection, restoration, quality assurance and testing of systems in accordance with regulations and best practices
Develop internal and external resources and capabilities, and arrange for specialized contractors and consultants to assist with improving the reliability of equipment and systems
Coordinate execution of small projects related to equipment reliability improvement
Organizational Responsibility:

Basic
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Five (5) years relative work experience in the maintenance/reliability field
Directly supervise and manage Predictive/Preventative Maintenance technicians
Experience troubleshooting equipment issues
Experience analyzing production loss and reliability data
Experience with capital project management and continuous improvement methods
Must be able and willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
Must be able and willing to work safely, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Demonstrated technical knowledge and hands-on experience related to predictive, preventative, thermography, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical transmission, etc.
Experience developing and leading Root Cause Failure Analysis strategies
Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred
Qualifications:
Associate' s degree or higher in technical field such as Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Two or more year of experience in a continuous process work environment
CMMS System experience (i.e. SAP / MP2 / ActivePlant)
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

This position is 100% travel. Home Based position. Strong preference in selecting a candidate that lives within or extremely close to this territory coverage area (SC/NC).
