The Morning Call is currently seeking a reporter. This position is responsible for coverage of Lehigh County Court and enterprise coverage of legal issues. Court coverage involves tracking all activity across the courtrooms of 10 county judges and making coverage decisions.
Develop and write news and enterprise coverage or coverage in a specific topical area for the continuous news cycle on our digital platforms and print.
Report and write watchdog stories about issues that have impact on readers' lives.
Shoot photographs or video with Smartphone or camera when required for breaking news or other occasions as assigned.
Work with your editor/digital platform manager, visual journalists, infographic designers, database journalists and other staffers in generating story ideas, photographs, videos and graphics for stories for both print and digital media.
Use social media for news gathering, news coverage or promoting Morning Call content and apply appropriate search engine optimization, geo tagging or other metadata to enhance content. Contribute to blogs as appropriate and on a regular basis. Work in digital content management systems as well as print publication systems.
File a weekly budget of events subject to coverage, including list of short- and long-term proposed stories.
Participate in a schedule shift rotation, including nights, weekends and holidays, if assigned by supervisor.
Reports to Content Editor or Topic Manager.
Act as The Morning Call's representative in the community.
Abide by The Morning Call ethics policy and Tribune Company's code of conduct.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum three years reporting experience or equivalent experience preferred.
Has ability to handle daily, short-term and long-term assignments simultaneously.
Has ability to write accurately under deadline pressure and provide necessary analysis and context in all stories.
Has excellent communication skills, shows initiative, and exercises good news judgment.
Digital skills, experience working in multimedia, social media, and familiarity with computer-assisted reporting are a plus.
Valid driver's license required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
