Description
Phacil has an immediate need for a Solutions Manager for our corporate efforts in Arlington, VA.
Scope
Position will support enterprise solutions providing technical support to ongoing business development activities. This includes proposal staffing plans, management and organizational models, end-to-end solutions (development, integration, operations and maintenance, cyber security, etc.), risk categorization and mitigation, etc. The Solutions Manager will be a critical link in the design and selling of solutions to customers both in person as well as through proposal activities. This requires effective collaboration between multiple teams (both internal and external) including writers, business development, program managers, vendors, partners, customers, etc. This includes capture management support and significant work on proposals and other documents provided to potential clients (e.g. sources sought responses, slide decks, oral presentations).
The candidate should expect to provide approximately 60%-80% of their time supporting proposal development with the remainder of their time interfacing with customers and the business development team. The range of work and tempo of each solution will be based upon the time of year and market with regards to proposal activity. They will take ownership for and drive creative, compelling, compliant, customer -focused proposal documents. Candidates will be supported by other solutions managers, writing staff, graphics, proposal management, and report to the Director of Solutions.
Candidate will be expected to:
o Sell solutions to customers based upon their needs as expressed through solicitations, sales calls and proposal support
o Take ownership for the quality of proposal content and team workmanship
o Conduct detailed reviews of solicitation documents and proposal responses
o Support the research of customer issues in preparation for proposals and sales calls
o Provide technical support to small teams of writers developing proposals
o Break technical concepts down in simple terms and identify efficiencies and cost-savings to develop an effective value proposition
o Provide well thought out and easy to follow methodologies based on industry standard frameworks (i.e. ITIL, ISO, CMMI, relevant SDLCs, etc.) incorporating detailed customer context to the proposal writers
o Work with and lead business development staff in supporting preparation of complex technical solutions to be presented to customers
o Develop targeted questions and support interactive interviews to obtain relevant information for developing winning customer solutions
o Research and provide solutions for new areas of business for Phacil
o Keep abreast of industry and market trends as it relates to IT modernization
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related IT field required
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
Experience with MS Project a plus
Up to 30% travel may be required
Significant hours through the 4th quarter of the FY should be expected
Overall 5 or more years in the Information Technology industry required
Analyzing customer requirements to identify effective business solutions
Experience in solutions-oriented selling/marketing is a plus
Ability to communicate complex IT concepts with clear and simple business dialect
Ability to work in highly effective teams to meet challenging deadlines
Direct experience and/or ability to rapidly learn and become an expert in:
System engineering in IT projects focusing on custom software development, system integration, and/or operations solutions.
Data Center Operations and Network Operations.
Analysis of complex solicitations, designing customer solutions, and articulating the business value of those solutions into easily understood pieces.
Direct selling to commercial or government customers.
Direct federal IT experience is a plus.
