## Description
IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. seeks a Application Architect I to work in Westbrook, Maine. The Application Architect I is responsible for designing structure and framework to organize computer applications to meet business informational needs and requirements. The Application Architect I provides design recommendations based on long-term organization strategy, develops application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features and aligns architecture with overall Company application architecture standards to ensure smooth and efficient operation. The Application Architect I defines design concepts, logic and physical characteristics, determines specifications and plans, designs and develops applications solutions, utilizing appropriate software processes and creates architecture and development standards. Responsibilities include providing design recommendations based on long-term organization strategy; developing application and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features; aligning architecture with overall Company application architecture standards to ensure smooth and efficient operation; defining design concepts, logic and physical characteristics and determining specifications and plans; and designing and developing applications solutions, utilizing appropriate software processes. Duties also include creating architecture and development standards; participating in development of new product requirements, features and design; researching and maintaining knowledge in emerging technologies and possible applications to the business; and understanding and applying attributes and processes of current application development methodologies.
## Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related Computer Engineering field and 5years experience in developing, designing, and architecting applications and custom integration solutions. Prior experience must also consist of demonstrated experience in the following: Web based architectures, frameworks and design patterns, specifically SQL and Java; working with higher-level development concepts, such as threading and transactional controls; using SOAP technology to exchange information over HTTP; developing GUI of Web Applications using HTML, CSS, Swing, XHTML, XML, XSL, and XSLT; design skills using Java and J2EEdesign patterns; SOA; weblogic applications; and implementing several industry standard development frameworks and creating architecture for specific software solutions.
