Description
Summary:
In conjunction with senior management, develops and implements strategies to recruit, select, develop and retain qualified physicians and mid-level providers to Bend Memorial Clinic. Acquires knowledge of BMC business models, challenges, culture, required skill sets and competencies. Creates candidate pipeline for current and future hires through student programs, medical school contacts and professional network. Develops and manages effective relationships with department manager, SLD, department chair, section chiefs and medical director. Oversees hiring and assimilation process from requisition through hiring and subsequent progression to shareholder or completion of first two years. Oversees onboarding process.
Essential Functions (greater than or equal to 10% of time):
Develops and implements provider recruitment strategies to meet both short and long term goals
Collaborates on sourcing strategies with Medical Director, COO, CFO, SLDs, Hiring Managers and HR Director.
Coordinates strategies with outside recruiters, educational institutions and community resources.
Conducts or participates in job fairs. Attends recruiting events and school visitations, conducting informal interviews and pre-screening candidates to encourage interest in BMC openings.
Drives candidate marketing and sourcing initiatives.
Oversees provider student programs to create pipeline of candidates for BMC.
Manages recruitment process
Obtains approved pro-forma.
Posts appropriate position advertising and monitors effectiveness.
Screens applications and resumes of candidates to ensure qualification and clear license.
Conducts and documents phone and in-person interviews to assess candidate suitability.
Refers qualified applicants to hiring team.
Coordinates candidate visits and interview schedules.
Monitor and track recruiting activities in appropriate database(s).
Ensures compliance with Affirmative Action/EEO requirements.
Manages Selection and Onboarding Process
Oversees candidate on-site visit to BMC.
Coordinates candidate selection process incorporating input from hiring team and ensuring timely candidate selection decision is made and communicated.
With clinical hiring team, conducts reference and background checks
Guides onboarding process to ensure professional, comprehensive and effective assimilation of each provider occurs.
Working closely with COO and HR, prepares employment contract and presents to candidate for signature.
Manages credentialing process to ensure provider is ready to practice in advance of hire date.
Coordinates start date and onboarding plan and activities.
Manages provider development
Tracks and monitors non-shareholder physician from hire to shareholdership using approved Path to Shareholder program.
Works closely with BMC and non-shareholder providers to support their assimilation into BMC.
Position Requirements
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
This position does not supervise staff. This position must work closely and collaboratively with the Medical Director, Section Chiefs, COO, CFO, SLD's, credentialing staff, human resources and the hiring team.
Education and/or
Experience:
A four-year college degree in a related field or equivalent experience is required. A master's degree is preferred. Requires extensive knowledge of healthcare operations plus seven years applicable experience. Prefer experience in multi-specialty group practice environment.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have demonstrated excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, a working knowledge of recruiting/human resources practices including employment law. Must have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a high volume work load and have good project management skills. Must build relationships on trust and follow-through. Demonstrated proficiency in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with recruiters, community organizations and educational institutes is required. Proficiency in conducting/managing licensing and credentialing process.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Periodic travel by car, plane, and public transportation is required.
