Welding Manufacturing Engineer for Global Manufacturing Company
Basic skill needed in all candidates:
To be able to review new design weldments, determine tooling modifications or tooling needed, and implement to shop floor.
To develop, maintain, analyze and assist in all traditional Welding Manufacturing Engineering activities, such as processing new components, cost reduction programs, layout improvements, new process justification and installations. Utilize skills necessary to serve as a team leader or participant in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop welding processes and tooling requirements for new released weldments
- Coordinate the trial runs of new weldments in production
- Spearhead the adjustment of tooling and processes to manufacture weldments to engineering specification
- Specify correct welding parameters to minimize weld spatter and sequences to minimize weld draw and warpage
- May be required to work with supplier in setting up robotic weld system for new weldments including positioners and tooling
- Develop sequenced welding work instructions for the operator to follow, including visuals
- Must have working knowledge of weld fixturing and clamping tooling, and how to properly shim tooling to pre-stress weldments to result in component being welded to engineering specifications.
o Establish methods and standards for new/changed parts.
o Analyze, document, investigate and implement corrections for process failures; and initiate and implement cost reduction teams.
o Provide leadership and work with other functions to help the plant meet goals in safety, quality, ISO, schedule performance, inventory and cost, and participate in a team environment. Other duties may include the need to establish economical manufacturing routings for a wide range of ferrous materials including castings and weldments.
o Develop and implement capital projects to improve work floor and reduce costs. May develop the justification for new capital equipment and manage the installation and startup of the new equipment.
o Provide support and participate in new product launch teams.
o Select correct tooling for new processes.
o Provide production support in areas of safety, quality, throughput improvement, line balancing, engineering problems, inventory and cost.
o Must have good communication skills and computer skills.
o Provide weld training and testing per welding standards
o Responsible for working with programmers to support 13 robots. .
Education &
Experience:
o 4 year minimum Engineering or Technology Degree
o Mechanical
o Agricultural
o Industrial
o Manufacturing
Minimum of 5 years experience in Manufacturing Processing, Quality, or Development Engineering

Long-term contract assignment up to 18 months. Likely, to exceed 18 months, with company corporate approval.
$35-42/hrEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
