Seeds and Traits R&D; within Dow AgroSciences (DAS) is seeking a candidate for the Kauai Field Research Station Site Leader position located in Kauai, HI, USA. Working with the Hawaii R&D; Leader and the breeding project leaders, the incumbent will provide leadership for the Kauai station and ensure excellence in implementing counter season support and R&D; projects assigned to Kauai. The Kauai Site Leader is responsible for the administrative management of the Kauai Field Station. As a member of our Hawaii Management group, this role will provide visible leadership for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S;), people development, facility capacity development and drive budget success.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Manage Kauai facility and staff to support the business objectives in the areas of conventional winter nursery support, marker assisted breeding and International Germ Bank development for the global corn business
Provide visible leadership for the Seeds and Traits EH&S; program and be a leading partner in the Hawaii EH&S; Team
Provide professional and technical staff with development opportunities and steward full deployment of DAS performance management processes at the Kauai site
Develop and lead a culture of process improvement in support of functional activities at the station
Support the management of the Site's annual operating budget
Support the management of the Site's annual equipment capital plan
Support the management of the Site's long term infrastructure capital plan
Develop and manage a professional and community based network in the state and lead and participate in outreach activities
Collaborate with the Hawaii R&D; Lead, Kauai Site Operations, the Global Trait Introgression Manager, Field Research Biologists and laboratory resources to establish project priorities, and implement against plan
Collaborate with DAS seed facilities to exchange ideas in order to maximize performance of the team
Travel to other Dow AgroSciences facilities as needed
## Qualifications
Bachelors or Masters degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or related field
8 years of industry related experience is preferred
Knowledge of crop research practices will be essential for success in this position
Strong interpersonal effectiveness and personal leadership skills are critical to successfully lead our Kauai R&D; Team
Technical proficiency in the use of multiple computer applications and sound analytical skills are necessary for success
The recognition of the importance of promoting a strong culture of employee health and safety is essential
