Job Description
Work in a safe and conscientious manner, correct safety hazards as they happen. Inspect equipment for safety issues.
Evaluate and make decisions concerning quality. Must follow all Quality SOP s at all times.
Understand production information and make decisions accordingly.
Setup and make adjustments to the Saddle Stitcher. These include: Domino and Scitex inkjet systems; Perry controller: selective binding; mailing; downstream inhibit system and syncs.
Complete and record accurate production information in DataMerge and other operating systems.
Lead and mentor Material Handlers working on your assigned machine.
Assist other operators when needed.
Understand U.S. Postal regulations concerning 3rdand 4thclass mail.
Attend and participate in departmental and operator meetings. Attend and participate in training to upgrade skills, including required online course work.
Promote working as a team to build continual improvement within the company.
May operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that contain numerous interrelated process stations that are fed collated sheets or signatures and perform such functions as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering and delivering or stacking completed books, magazines or catalogs.
Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine. Direct crew though all aspects of production. Monitor quality, output and productivity.

Required Skills
Must demonstrate; experience and knowledge in the safe and efficient operations of all equipment as well as demonstrate a willingness to use personal protective equipment as required.
Good written, verbal and comprehensive communications skills
Must possess basic arithmetic skills. Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines.
Must have basic computer skills
Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and hot working conditions
Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock.
Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, and quality of paper stock being used in order to prevent machining impressions (marking, scratches, etc.) on printed materials.
Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines.
Must be available to work day or night shift, 12- hour shifts and overtime as scheduled
